Breathe Writers Conference October 12-13 2012
Breathe: A Christian Writer’s Workshop is for writers by writers who care about words and relationships. This conference purposes to not only connect participants with vital tools, but also with other travelers. After all, God never intended us to travel alone.
Twenty workshops offer beginners and more advanced writers a variety of choices: beginning a novel to beginning a writing career, boosting creativity to finding an agent, writing devotionals to writing for children.
Workshop presenters include editors, agents, instructors and published writers.
The Writers’ Guild founded Breathe. This spiritually-minded group of West Michigan writers is dedicated to equipping self and others for the calling of writing.
Veteran agent and author Terry Whalin will be the featured presenter. Terry has written more than 60 nonfiction books plus been published in more than 50 magazines. For five years, he was an acquisition editor at a book publisher, and he's a former literary agent. Now Terry is a publisher at Intermedia Publishing Group. He encourages writers of any level, from beginners to professions, at Right-Writing.com. To help people pursue their own dreams of a published book, Terry has written Jumpstart Your Publishing Dreams, Insider Secrets to Skyrocket Your Success. He will speak on the craft of writing and pursuing your writing dreams.

Cedar Falls Christian Writers’ Workshop - June 13-16, 2012

The Cedar Falls Christian Writers’ Workshop is held each year in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Our 2012 conference will be held at Riverview Conference Center from June 13-16. Our guest presenter will be Kevin Hansen, author of Secret Regrets, whose book has been featured on Dr. Phil, as well as Shelly Beach and Jolene Philo.
Presentations include inspirational devotionals and presentations on fiction, nonfiction, marketing, and media.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide an intimate environment for writers to hone their craft and learn from experienced professionals.

Shelly Beach is a fulltime freelance writer and speaker whose first novel, Hallie’s Heart Kregel Publications), won a 2008 Christy Award for contemporary Christian fiction. That same year, Shelly’s first nonfiction book, Precious Lord, Take My Hand: Meditations for Caregivers (Discovery House Publishers), was a finalist in the Gift and Inspiration category for the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. Precious Lord is now in its 6th printing and has sold tens of thousands of copies. Shelly is also the author of a second caregiving release, Ambushed by Grace: Help and Hope on the Caregiving Journey (Discovery House Publishers). Her second novel, Morningsong, released in June of 2009. Her most recent book is The Silent Seduction of Self-Talk: Conforming Deadly Thought Patterns to the Word of God (Moody Publications). Shelly is also co-author of A Visual History of the King James Bible with Dr. Don Brake and is an author of Zondervan's NIV Stewardship Resource Bible. She has also authored numerous articles that have appeared in publications ranging from regional magazines to Focus on the Family.
Shelly is the co-founder of the Cedar Falls Christian Writer’s Workshop in Iowa and the Breathe Christian Writer’s Workshop near Grand Haven, Michigan. She speaks across the nation at conferences, seminars, and retreats on writing, caregiving, and spiritual formation. She and her husband Dan have two adult children and live in Sparta, Michigan, where they enjoy riding their Harley Davidson.
